Although there was no WI Meeting in August, The Loders WI was involved in a number of local events this month.
​
Saturday 3rd August - Loders Village Fete
The Loders Village Fete held in Lord Hood's garden was extremely successful with a new committee taking over from Emily Bourne. Loders WI was again running the 'Made in Loders' Stall and there were a number of other Loder WI members involved in other stalls. (See photos in Gallery)

​Saturday 17th August - Loders Flower and Produce Show sponsored by Loders WI
This year's Flower and Produce Show was very successful attracting over 370 entries and was well attended. The Winners: The Crutchley Cup for Vegetables and the Crawford Trophy for Photography was won by Bernard Paull who also won the Entertainments Bowl for the most points gained overall.; the Jeans Cup for Flowers was won by Tony Richards; with the Whitlock Cup for Flower Arranging was won by Caroline Baker. The Laskey Bowl for Produce was won by Jane Ronge and the Hood Cup for Handicraft was won by Alison Brightwell. There was a record number of entrants to the Children's Classes and the Uploders Modellers Trophy was awarded to Amelie Pageant. (See photos in Gallery)​​

Thursday 22nd August - Melplash Show
After much planning and hard work by Alison Brightwell, Caroline Taylor, Rosemary Hendry, Jane Brunning and Pippa Davis, Loders WI entry in the group handicraft section on 'Food Heaven' , won second prize, just beaten by half a point! Well done to Bride Valley WI! (See photos in Gallery)

Tuesday 10th September at 7.30pm will see the return to our monthly meetings. An interesting talk on Smuggling with the Dorset connection will be given by Trevor Ware of Bridport Museum. Visitors are welcome at £5 on the door.​​​​​​​​​

​​​​A note for your diary: We are planning a lunch and a nose around the shops at Symondsbury on Tuesday 24th September. Please put your name on the board if you wish to come, at our meeting in September.
